The festival
is pleased to add these Celtic Rockers to this year’s entertainment line-up.
Blending soaring bagpipes, reeling Celtic fiddles, & tribal didgeridoo with
modern rock guitars, bass, and drums, Needfire takes traditional Celtic
melodies into a modern rock context with original lyrics and hard-hitting
performances. Since 2005 these Texas-based Celt-rockers have headlined some
of the nation’s largest Celtic and arts festivals. Go

Returning to the Tartan Festival again this year is Smithfield Fair.
Contemporary blends of traditional and original works make for the
perfect balance. Beneath the motive power of Dudley-Brian Smith’s ringing
guitar work is Bob Smith's fluidly precise fretless bass lines and the
otherworldly gallop of Frang Bladen’s bodhran and percussion work. The
combination of that rhythmic muscle is the perfect structure over which to
lay Jan Smith’s ethereal vocals and melodic accordion work, as well as the
group’s hauntingly elegant vocal harmonies. Visit their website at:
Two Frogs a
Courtin’
Troy and Bronwyn Young are
a husband & wife team hailing from Plain Dealing, Louisiana. Troy
plays guitar, mandolin, and the button accordion while Bronwyn plays
hammered dulcimer. Their blend of Celtic and traditional music has been
heard in venues such as the Sunflower Festival in
Gilliam, Louisiana, the
Benton Heritage Festival, and the Harvest Festival Tour. For the past five
years, these two have been entertaining audiences of all ages.
Frank Walsh
Frank sings and
plays fiddle with the 12th Louisiana
String Band,
which performs in Louisiana, Texas
and
venues all over the South. He became
interested in
performing traditional southern ballads and folksongs
18 years ago, only to find that the music he was
performing had its roots in the Scotch-Irish heritage of
the South .
The Scottish Tartan Festival is being
sponsored by the Scottish Society of the Louisiana Hielands in conjunction
with the Webster Parish Convention & Visitor’s Bureau.
